The master blaster - Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar will be one among the 35 sports persons in India to carry the torch for the Olympics 2008 torch relay.Sachin actually volunteered himself to carry the torch.Sachin called Indian Olympic Association President Suresh Kalmadi and expressed his wish to join the other sportsmen who are selected to participate in the Olympic torch relay.The torch relay would take place on 17th of this month.The Indian Olympic association president assured that adequate security measures are taken to ensure the Olympic torch is safe from the pro-tibet protesters.Recently lots of disturbances occurred in the torch relay that took place in France,the torch was put off twice to prevent it from the reach of the protesters.



Now,the volunteering of Sachin in the torch relay has created a lot mixed opinions among his fans and all the Indians.Many feel unhappy discontented by his participation.Many feel that India should support for the Tibetian cause.Some people has raised questions and criticized Sachin for being selfish and not supporting the Tibet protests.Even i heard people criticizing him like,he is doing this stuff only for getting more attention for his sponsors like Pepsi who told him to do so.While this is the case with Sachin,Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia has refused to carry the torch and expressed his concern and support for the Tibetian Protesters and wanted China to free Tibet.However the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) made it clear that it will not persuade Bhaichung Bhutia to carry the torch again.But in Sachin's point of view,he said its a great honor for him to carry the torch and he has grownup watching many Olympics and its a dream come true for him to carry the torch.
